The Brief

Kettle & Quill is two businesses in one: a serious specialty roastery and a gathering place where writers meet weekly to read, critique, and drink good coffee. The old look leaned café-generic and said nothing about the literary half of the house.

The new identity had to feel creative, communal, and sophisticated at once — equally at home stamped on a takeaway cup, letterpressed on a workshop chapbook, and painted on the shopfront glass.

What the Identity Includes

A hand-drawn marque of a storyteller’s quill crossed with a steam wisp gives the brand its playful signature, set against warm paper tones, espresso ink, and a bookshelf green. Menus and workshop flyers share one flexible grid so staff can set both.

  • Brand story, naming refinements, and tone of voice
  • Hand-drawn marque, wordmark, and stamp variants
  • Cup, bag, and retail packaging system
  • Shopfront signage, menus, and wayfinding
  • Workshop posters, chapbooks, and event templates

“The identity they created is constantly complimented. It captures our essence and has been key to our growth.”
